About
The Brand

Wolvis is a poetic knitwear brand, known for its limited editions of scarves, characterised by offbeat colour combinations and luxurious textures.
• wolvis was founded in 2013 by Ghent-based architect Griet Depoorter. After a few years of working in architecture studios, she decided to follow her passion for knitwear. She explored new horizons and started playing and experimenting with both classic and innovative materials and techniques.
During her studies of Fashion at SASK Academie of Sint-Niklaas, she became even more inspired and passionate about knitting. Experimenting and creating on her knitting machine at night, and working in an architecture office during daytime, she decided in 2016 to fully focus on her brand, although architecture is never far away in the designs.
Wolvis keeps on refreshing thanks to Griet’s sense for design, sustainability, poetic collection concepts and inspiring local collaboration
poetic knitwear

Belgian knitwear brand Wolvis weaves poetry into every garment. Our limited edition pieces stand out with their bold and distinctive colors, carefully chosen to reflect the essence of nature. We prioritize the use of premium natural fibers in crafting each item, ensuring both beauty and environmental consciousness.
Made in Europe
All collections are designed in-house in our atelier in Ghent, Belgium. The majority of our pieces are knitted by our production partners in Waregem and Sint-Niklaas, less than 50 kilometres from our studio. Our gloves, mittens and socks are produced by a Czech knitwear manufacturer specializing in 3D knitting
Natural materials
Wolvis is closely interwoven with the cycles of nature. As meteorological winters commence, so do Wolvis winters unfold their soft embrace. And Wolvis summers too mirror the exuberance of the natural world.
In winter, we turn to extra fine merino wool — warm, breathable and soft, perfectly attuned to colder days. In summer, cotton forms our foundation — light, airy and gentle on the skin. Each material is chosen because its very nature complements the rhythm of the season.
our responsibility
Wolvis’ mission is to create exquisite knitwear pieces: tangible narratives that inspire, touch the heart, and foster genuine connections. We bear the weight of responsibility in developing novel products, always mindful of our impact on the environment.

ABOUT
Our garments can be worn from morning to night without worry. Even multiple days in a row. You can navigate city traffic, office politics and the queue at the bar – in the same sharp outfit. Without the need to go home and get changed.
We couldn’t find it, so we created it.
We are two designers from Antwerp with a fascination for materials and fabric technologies. We earned our wings in the outdoor industry where the design process is led by performance and functionality. But gradually we started to demand the same performance from our daily wardrobe. We couldn’t find any. So we decided to create these garments ourselves with the groundbreaking materials we used in the outdoor industry but in a style that we want to wear all day, not just when we are out in the mountains.
It starts with the yarn.
We take a nerdy interest in garment finishes and fabric technology, and if we can’t find the fabric we have in mind we set out to develop it. So we can knit or weave our fabrics with the exact characteristics needed to make your life more comfortable. We build on the centuries of experience of our established suppliers, and thrive on the energy of our more recently founded partners. And we will never stop improving, because your lives will never stop changing.

Duty of care.
We take our responsibility towards the environment and our fellow humans very seriously. There are key aspects of the fashion industry that we simply don’t agree with. That’s why we didn’t want to board that train without questioning every aspect of it. We believe that every garment you buy should be a piece that you want to wear for years. That’s why we build long lasting pieces with a timeless styling. We also involve our community so we know that you like what we will make even before we start making it. We only use materials that are cultivated in a responsible way and where less chemicals are needed to process them into finished garments. We prefer to source local, European materials and work with European manufacturers. Most of them are small to medium sized family run businesses where we really know the people. Because in the end it’s their devotion that makes the difference.

Woody
WoodyMore Info

INSPIRATION: •••top
•••top
Since his early collections, Walter has been inspired for his designs
by art, music and literature, all mixed with ethnic and nature influences.
Walter Van Beirendonck is considered to be one of the main trend-setters
in men’s fashion by the professional press.
His designs are very recognisable by either strong graphics
or innovating cuts and unexpected colour combinations .
The red thread throughout his collections is his sense of humour,
sex with an eye-wink and his concern about ‘safe sex’.
His continous statements about the fashion-world,earth,nature, contemporary life
and society are collected in prints and slogans.
Often ‘double bottomed’!
Always in a complete unconventional context.
Since 1983 carries every collection a well-defined name.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:

Walter works besides the collections, regurarely on projects:
• Designing costumes for theater, ballet and film, curating expositions, designing objects,

Are you also so Wild about Textile?
And we don’t just mean fashion, but especially the more unknown innovative products that the textile sector has to offer and that you come into contact with on a daily basis. To guarantee these innovations, quality, design and sustainability, more than 650 Belgian textile producers are committed to this every day. Innovation in technology, raw materials, production processes and services contribute to this. This is of course a challenge for which they need motivated employees. Are you helping to build the future of tomorrow?
Here on the Wild van Textiel website you can get acquainted with the sector, we will guide you through the textile training courses that are offered and you can find an up-to-date database of vacancies in the textile industry.

Wouters & Hendrix
Wouters & HendrixMore Info
Wouters & Hendrix stands for authenticity, sensitivity, playfulness, eccentricity and pure Belgian craftsmanship. Driven by their heritage of impeccable artistry and fuelled by infinite creativity, Karen and Katrin continue their pursuit of innovation and artistic collaboration.
Most of the time, their approach in designing a collection is impulsive rather than rational. They tend to just get going and see where it will take them. This often means visiting a bookshop, museum or exhibition to soak up inspiration, or travelling to another city to clear their minds.
For over 30 years Wouters & Hendrix have stood for the uninterrupted and diligent creation of jewelry. Today, no less than 70 collections have come into being, all with different stories and a string of haunting names such as: Stones for Wilma, Healing Jewelry, Ex Voto, Les Désirs de Désirée …
History is what the present is to tomorrow. With that idea in mind, Wouters & Hendrix collected thirty years of legacy in five uniquely designed time capsules. Each capsule contains statement artefacts that will stand the test of time. Without holding onto the past, and yet keeping its finger on the pulse of today’s zeitgeist, Wouters & Hendrix is looking forward to the future. Against the backdrop of the digital revolution, each capsule was translated into a short 3D film directed by the young visual artist Frederik Heyman.
Just as every jewel in the Wouters & Hendrix universe is created with thought and care and is the result of a unique balance between traditional craftsmanship and today’s trends, fusing the fleetingness of video art with the longevity of jewelry art is another manifestation of their sense of postmodernism. Likewise, the idea of preserving thirty years of Wouters & Hendrix in time capsules can be regarded as a futurist act. While the feasibility of electronic and magnetic storage media being preserved into the distant future may be hotly debated, history has proved that jewels stand the test of time.

HISTORY
In 1939 Louis Wellens and Mathilde Vissers started a clothing store. Mathilde was a seamstress and mainly sold tailor-made products. Quality came first from the start.
The store was a hit and soon they had to look for larger premises. The Nederrij in Herentals was the ideal location. Under the guidance of Louis and Mathilde’s two children, Dore and Margriet Wellens, the range was systematically expanded. That is why there were no fewer than 7 extensions between 1951 and 1968. Finally, in 1968, the store was split into a men’s and a women’s department.
In the eighties, the third generation started expanding the business. Carl Wellens took Wellens Men to unprecedented heights and Ingrid van Laer made Wellens Women a well-known address for fashionistas.
