Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee… that is what Elegnano stands for.
Elegnano offers elegant, exclusive women’s shoes of the highest quality for women that are fashionable and graceful, but also know what they want in life. Elegnano lives by the motto: float like butterfly, sting like a bee. Walking through life effortless and elegant, but strong and sharp at the same time. Elegnano wants every woman to move gracefully through life – like a fairy or a butterfly – without exchanging elegance and femininity for comfort and resilience. Technological innovation and modern design make this possible.Elegnano is literally, and figuratively a fusion of elegance and nanotechnology.
The Italian craftmenship and high-tech innovation are brought together in unique designs. The design studio is based in Belgium. We pay a lot of attention to the right fit and materials of the shoes. Only top quality materials are personally selected with great care. The exclusive leather goods are handmade in the Marche in Italy, known worldwide for producing high quality footwear.
Katrien Herdewyn,s fascination for shoes started at a very young age: The four year old Katrien built a shoe shop in front of the garage and spent hours underneath tables in aisles to look at the shoes of people that walked by, without being distracted by anything above it. In 2010 she graduated as a civil engineer with a master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the University of Leuven. After her studies she started a PhD in Sciences, in combination with studies in Footwear Design at the Academy of Fine Arts of Sint-Niklaas. She took specialized classes in Fashion Footwear Design at London College of Fashion (UK), Polimoda (Italy), Prescot & McKay (UK) and SLEM (Netherlands). Her designs are enchanting and delicate, yet edgy and sharp. The eccentric collections she designed for the Academy have already been shown in various exhibitions, fairs and fashion shows in Belgium, the Netherlands, London and Paris. In 2013 she was nominated for the Global Footwear Design Award. In 2014 she became the only Belgian finalist in the prestigious Muuse x Vogue Talents – Young Vision Award Accessories. In November 2014 Katrien started her own commercial shoe label: Elegnano.

Our history
Jérome Lietaer started in the flax and linen business in 1924, when the industry flourished in Flanders. In 1948, his son André joined the family business. As of 1963, André shifted the focus from flax linen to yarns and established Symaco in 1972, the foundation of our textile group. Driven by his passion for textiles and for pigeons, André explored the world to find the best raw material for the European textile industry. In 1979, the second generation, headed by André’s son Alain, expanded the textile activities with production facilities in Belgium by founding the Avelgemse Spinnerij (AVS).In 1991, AVS moved from Avelgem to a greenfield site in Spiere-Helkijn and was baptized AVS Spinning. The spinning facilities included a revolutionary open-end coloured yarn production technique and raw white synthetic yarn production lines. In 1997, the spinning mill was further expanded with the launch of Sigma Spinning, an open-end cotton spinning mill.Further external growth and synergies were realized in 2008 through a joint-venture with the UCO Yarns division from the Vlerick Group, which was in 2012 fully integrated within European Spinning Group. In order to expand the yarn service activities further, the group acquired Demtex, a beaming facility in Kruishoutem, in 2012.Currently, the third generation is active in the textile group, ready to continue the story of the family business with a passion for textiles and entrepreneurship all around the world. All activities are being rebranded under the commercial name ‘European Spinning Group’, in order to outline the strong foundations as a diversified European yarn production group.

Elvis Pompilio
Elvis PompilioMore Info
1987 was the starting point in the career of the hat designer Elvis POMPILIO. From a simple show room to boutiques in Brussels, Antwerp, Paris and London and worldwide distribution: major Department Stores in America (Bergdorf, Saks, Bendel, Barneys, Neiman Marcus …), the best Boutiques in Europe and a network of points of sale in Japan including Takashiyama, his business has expanded very quickly to an annual average production of 30.000 hats, hand made.
He skilfully styles the heads of celebrities from all over the planet : Madonna, Amelie Nothomb, Blondie, Lio, Harrison Ford, Mickey Rourke, Arielle Dombasle are regular clients, as well as members of the royal families of Great Britain, Norway, The Netherlands, Sweden and Belgium. Appointed Officier de L’Ordre de Léopold II, his work can also be found alongside Amelie Nothomb at the Grevin Museum and he works with Chanel, Mugler, Feraud, Céline, Bikkembergs, Anteprima… on their Haute CoutureJ and ready-to-wear collections.
He has moved in another direction when he ended these activities and concentrated on a Boutique-workshop in Brussels (which retained the styles he is known for: Knitted hats, Adaptable Hats as well as many one-off creations).
After a Pop Up store in Paris in Maria Luisa’s boutique in the Printemps department store together with a Wedding collection in the same surroundings and a period of intense collaboration with Anne Demeulemeester and also Veronique Leroy, Véronique Branquinho and Axelle Red he recently decided to give another twist to his career by closing his shop and exploring the more artistical side of his personality while coming retruning to his roots with a new show room together with his work shop on Avenue Louise 437 at 1050 Brussels.
2014 might see him as designing costumes for an Opera, creating a table for San Pellegrino , or expanding his business in Shanghai and doing many other things (e.shop) while keeping open collaboration with his designer(s) friends and creating hats for the Queen of Belgium.

Experimentation, innovation and surpassing things are words that define the process of research and creation of Espèces – in the sense of identity – because Sébastien Lacomblez and Marie Artamonoff assert a certain level of independence faced with the commercial logic of the masses.
Espèces are designers nourished by their creations, which have been appropriated from their personalities and their personal training: a course in plastic arts with a specialisation in digital art in Mons for Sébastien and jewellery in Namur for Marie. This is an intersting complementary that can be seen in their jewels and their current ready-to-wear experimentations. What is technically acquired in one area is transposed into the other and influences the choice of a certain aesthetic.
Sébastien’s interest for zoology was the perfect excuse to launch the line, which happened in a rather organic way. Using silver, gold and bronze – as well as a diversity of animal parts and bones – the idea for the collection first came in September 2011, when Marie purchased an animal skull for Sébastien’s birthday, making a single cast for herself.
An interested in the science of living things was the leitmotif of the creative process. Bones force us to go beyond ourselves as they have become objects of strangeness that defy notions of time and mortality. The ergonomic from of the objects transcends the status of ‘necklace’.
In a satured market, Espèces has made the choice of marketing themselves out as their unusual items lead to a form of exclusivity. The so-called ‘little structure’ made the choice of developping initially at the international level, increasing the number of its points of sale to gain necessary legitimacy to display their collections in the renowned boutique ’Stijl’ on the rue Antoine Dansaert in Brussels.
In 2015, Espèces pursued its work related to bones, proposing new models and materials and enriched its vocabulary by incorporating patterns into its productions with the launch of a new jewellery line and an experimental ready-to-wear collection. These novelties are inspired by patterns that are present in nature and in particular the way in which they are generated. The Conus textile – also called the golden fleece – is a poisonous shell whose patterns are similar to cellular automatons – mathematical objects, evolving in states according to simple rules, by imitating the self – reproducting capacities of living beings in a certain way.
The duo developed an IT programme that generates drawings and puts in place a unique item system within a series in partnership with a Belgian industrial knitting firm. These drawings are used to produce the knitwear, a technique making it possible to reproduce the design precisely: each pixel is equivalent to a point of the mesh. Each pullover, each scarf and each pair of leggings is unisex and unique. The client chooses from an array of patterns but each item of clothing will have its own variation of the drawing. Headscarves made of silk are also produced from the prints. A line of jewels made of silver and gold taking up their patterns by subtraction and by extrusion also emerged from this idea.

Els Vansteelandt (°1961) started as an independent gold and silversmith in 1997. She designs jewellery and objets d’art. Her work is displayed in museums and galleries in major cities in Europe.
Els works both in her own studio in the green outskirts of Brussels and in an open workshop and showroom in a more urban setting in the centre of Brussels.
Anything can be inspiration for me. I just need to look around, observe, let my imagination start to flow and connect shapes. The emotional impulses that inspire me to design, lead me straight to the precious metal. I begin working with an idea about the form a piece of jewellery or an object will take. Much happens as I work, and I let my material take the lead. Whether this process results in a brooch or a silver spoon… cannot be predicted. Unforeseen events and unexpected variations make my material an endless world to explore and discover.

the world of elena werner.
Costume design for opera and dance.
contemporary costume design with a nostalgic touch.
Elena Werner is both a designer and a time traveller. In every project, her goal is to create a Gesamtkunstwerk, bringing together traditions and innovation. Her designs come to life in an aura of timelessness, yet with frames of reference to the baroque and art nouveau.
merging traditions, details and references.
Elena Werner’s aesthetical presumption mirrors in the intertwinements and embroidered connections of her costumes. They merge the traditions of opera with the present. Together with a fabric mise-en-scène, these confluxes descend upon the opera or dance characters. In combination with the métier of some old techniques which handle needle, thread and thimble, the haute couture wanders about all of this. Textile arts debouches into a cosmos of lines, circles and ribbons versus symmetry and origami. It eventually brings together Gustave Klimt, Sarah Moon and Pina Bauch and they ask one another for a dance. With an affluence of details and references, everything merges together in a homogenous and prosperous tone of fabrics.
