About us
I am Veerle, married to Jeroen and mother of 3 teenage daughters Frauke, Mare and Lobke (hence Framalo).
After a career of 15 years in education, it was time for me for something new. My daughters also needed some extra mommy love at that time, so working from home was up for me.
It all started with 10 fabrics in my living room cupboard. This quickly expanded to my desk, bedroomā¦ and then eventually converting the garage into a real store.
But the garage shop also quickly turned out to be too small and after a while I also got tired of breaking up and dismantling the workshop tables.
Three years ago we took the decision to move to a larger building in Houthulst with sufficient retail and workshop spaces.
It’s often long and busy days for me but I don’t regret it for a second! Framalo became my fourth child, a fabric and wool shop but above all a workshop and DIY place. Every day I enjoy giving workshops and lessons. Every day I remain āMissā but in my own way.
Teaching will always remain a part of me. Giving inspiration to others gives me enormous satisfaction and the spirit to continue. I want to inspire and make people create each in his or her own way. How a piece of fabric can turn into something beautiful, something completely finished. How a thread of wool can become a warm scarf around someone’s neck and give a warm feeling when someone compliments it. Because that is my goal: to meet and enjoy!
Of course I don’t do all this alone and I have a great team behind me!
Mister Framalo or Jeroen. In daily life school director but also my support and rock. The man who pulls me through when the going gets tough, who keeps saying that everything will always be okay, the one who always goes along with my moving whims, my financial director, help at fairs and cook at the children’s camps.
Katrien helps out in the store as a saleswoman and gives perfect advice on fabric and pattern choices. She also gives advanced sewing lessons on Wednesdays and Fridays and processes all our retouches.

Madeline
MadelineDe stoffenmadamMore Info
Madeline, that’s Nancy Moerenhout and also a piece of An Van Dessel.
Madeline the fabric madam is my dream that came true in 2014. Years earlier I made my first knitting and then switched to sewing lessons. Beautiful fabrics became a passion. One I’d like to share with you. Via the store in Lier, the webshop or a cozy workshop.
Pop in if you’re in the area? I would like to get to know you.
NANCY X
A fabric store five minutes by bike from my house: a silent wish and a danger at the same time. First I was an enthusiastic customer, then I gave workshops and now I work part-time in this wonderful store.
My main occupation is a teacher, which comes in handy during the workshops. When my oldest son was born, I became addicted to sewing and beautiful fabrics. It’s fantastic that I can now partly turn that hobby into my profession. Would you like to meet us?
AN X
I’m Shanna, Nancy’s eldest daughter. Admittedly, working in my mom’s fabric shopā¦ it wasn’t the job of my dreams right away. But three years ago we gave it a shot and this turned out to be the best decision ever!
I am responsible for the webshop, how my mom combined that with the store all this time is a mystery to me, because the webshop of Madeline de Stoffenmadam, that is more than a full-time job!
That I spend every day between ladies who share a common passion is quite special. I wouldn’t want anything else, that makes working here even more pleasant and enjoyable.
In the meantime I took a āsewing for beginnersā course, and that An can even teach someone like me to sew says a lot about the fantastic teacher she is! I’ve been in the shop myself for a few months now. How I enjoy those chats! And I learn so much from you, our customers, it’s a pleasure every day.
SHANNA X
My name is Hilde, now 59 years young and I have been sewing for as long as I can remember. When I got the chance to work for Madeline at the end of 2016, I was thrilled! My dream job, finally!
Since then I have joined the āTeam Madelineā and I am full of conviction in the store every day, cutting fabrics and assisting customers with advice and assistance. I am a retoucher, sewing is my passion. Customers can always contact me for advice and a nice chat.

Thu Van Nguyen
clothing designer
It was in 2006 that Thu-Van Nguyen created the brand Nuage d’Automne (translation of Thu-Van in Vietnamese). This Eurasian born in Perpignan (France) has lived in Belgium since the age of 6.
Trained as a costume designer and decorator, she came to styling in a natural way as if to express through Fashion the mixture of cultures and origins of which she is the fruit.
In her workshop in La Hulpe, she creates medium and high-end ready-to-wear for men and women, in unique pieces, limited series and made-to-measure.
In an ethnic style, Nuage d’Automne bears witness to the meeting between the East and the West, the ancient and the modern.
In addition to using natural materials (silk, wool, linen or cotton) as well as vegetable dyes for certain ranges, particular attention is paid to the quality of the finishes.
The stage costume complements its work through spectacular outfits and costumes for musicians, dancers or actors.
Creativity, know-how and experience at the service of Fashion.
She stands out with an approach to Fashion that is more artistic than ātrendyā by creating unexpected mixes. What makes these clothes exceptional, sometimes close to a work of art.
In an unconventional style with minimalist cuts, it combines elegance with a mixture of cultures and eras, while promoting craftsmanship and know-how.

The Brand
Kinamania is an independent Brussels-based atelier with a passion for leather. We make fine iconic footwear inspired by cultural heritage and revisited with elegance and dare. The shoes are made in Spain and Portugal.
“I find my inspiration in basic footwear styles that have stood the test of time to which I add fashion-forward details. This is my way of reinventing heritage.”Ā Kristina
The brand has two main lines – The Essentials which are timeless collections and The Collaborations where Kristina partners with artists, artisans and craft-based NGOs to put their craft in the spotlight.
Collaborations
Kristina has a deep appreciation of makers and cultural heritage combined with a passion for leather as a primary raw material. Driven by her curiosity and her hunger for discovery of creative works, she collaborates with artisans and artists on her shoe collections and takes great pride in partnering, when possible, with craft-based NGOs that drive real changes in peopleās lives.
The founder
Former designer and production director to theĀ Johnny FarahĀ House of leather accessories – between Beirut & NY –Ā Kristina ZoueinĀ spent countless hours in artisansā workshops. As a self-taught designer, this was a very formative experience.
In 2015 and with more than 10 years experience, she decides to create Kinamania, a slow fashion brand of accessories with a balanced mix of humility, sobriety and dare.
Of Canadian-Lebanese origins, Kristina lived most of her life in Beirut, until she met her partner and moved to Brussels a few years ago
A committed brand : Kinamania X Cancer
“In November 2019, I was diagnosed with breast cancer which pushed me to redefine the way I am leading my life and my business. Statistics show thatĀ 1 in 8 womenĀ are diagnosed with breast cancer, and I was chocked when I learnt those numbers, especially to discover that so many women, like myself, below the age of 40 go through this for reasons that are still unclear. Since then, I have committed toĀ support cancer research.”
Leather and sustainability
Kinamania shoes are made from domesticated animal skins that are raised in agricultural settings andĀ treatedĀ in European tanneries that are certified forĀ their environmentally friendly working method.
The European leather industry is at the forefront of the conversation and innovation towards lower impact and circular practices :
+ to reduce chemical usage, water, and waste compared to traditional tanning processes.
+ to make sure that animals from which the hide is used are being treated well
+ to ensure that people who produce the leather are treated fairly
Fun facts to know š
+++ It is through a failed romance with a Spaniard that Kristina discovered theĀ abarcaĀ sandal style. This traditional Spanish sandal was the trigger to her shoe brand.
+++ KinaMania is a brand name with roots in ‘menorquina’, the alternative name for theĀ abarcaĀ sandal which was originally handmade on the island of Menorca in the Baleares. The mania for Kinas is born from menorquina mania!
+++ The shoes have singer name and the subtitles refer to uplifting songs that align to the Craft Your Day tagline.
+++ The tag line says CRAFT YOUR DAY with two dashes. The two dashes symbolise the craftsmanship and hand-stitched design signature of the Kinamania fine footwear atelier.
Atypical leather-craft workshops
Kristina also offers creative leathercraft workshops combining leather and modern technology.
The objective behind those workshops is that participants personalise a beautiful object – in a warm and friendly atmosphere – and proudly return home with a unique souvenir.

t Stoffenhoekske
t StoffenhoekskeMore Info
Greta Bogaerts started ‘t Stoffenhoekske in 1985 at the Merksemsebaan 115 in Wijnegem. Now, more than 30 years later, this fabric shop is an established name in Antwerp.
After a technical training ‘Snit & Naad’ at the Sancta-Maria Institute in Deurne, Greta wanted to be able to experience her passion the way she wanted. This enthusiasm became a motivation to start her own business. On September 1, 1985, ‘t Stoffenhoekske was born.
Several years after the start, the supply and the number of customers exceeded the capacity of the building. In 1990, ‘t Stoffenhoekske moved from Merksemsebaan to its current location on Turnhoutsebaan. But again the corner burst at the seams after a few years. When the adjacent building was put up for sale, a great opportunity presented itself to further expand the store in order to offer customers a clearer overview. Ten years after this second expansion, the next adjacent building was also purchased, which was furnished as an additional studio space and training room.
At the same time, the services offered also expanded. ‘ t Stoffenhoekske started in 1985 with the sale of fashion fabrics and sewing supplies. Customers also got all the sewing advice they wanted. After the move, Greta started with the first sewing courses, in her own living room and on a much smaller scale and less frequent than today.
Customers increasingly asked for curtains and drapes. After additional courses, Greta started making quality custom curtains. The high-quality fabrics in the range and the perfect finish ensured satisfied customers and new customers. Greta’s daughters Saartje and Lientje, who both followed an intensive course in window decoration, have been working in the business for several years now. This collection of hands and expertise makes it possible to accept and complete larger assignments as well. For example, ‘t Stoffenhoekske is now increasingly making curtains for schools, retirement homes, companies, etc. all over the country.
In the early years, ‘t Stoffenhoekske also moved. Greta went to annual fairs with fashion fabrics and attended the annual Easter market on the Turnhoutsebaan in Wijnegem. There was also a fashion show in which every piece of clothing was made by hand. The fashion show is now history, but ‘t Stoffenhoekske is still represented every year on the Easter market.
‘t Stoffenhoekske has come a long way since the first stitch in 1985. Today you will not only find a wide range of unique fashion fabrics and merchandise, but you can also find tailor-made carpets and curtains with free measurement and installation. The repair service continues to deliver on time and neatly. And the intricacies of the trade are explained at the regular and pleasant sewing courses.
‘t Stoffenhoekske is far from finished.
