Bivolino Brand Story
Over its 50 year history, Bivolino has built a reputation as a leading supplier of beautifully tailored shirtss – crafted with the ultimate combination of precision and design. But few people know the story behind the brand and how it spearheaded the design innovation we see in shirt manufacturing today.
The Bivolino story begin in 1954, when brothers Louis and Jacques Byvoet founded the company with a joint investment of 8 million francs. Their grandfather, Jacques, had been in the linen trade since 1900 and the name Bivolino was chosen to represent both the family name of Byvoet and linen – the fabric from which Bivolino shirts would be made from. They based the company in Hasselt, in the heart of the Campine in Be

It is in 1996 that we created Noukie’s, in Belgium. Our wish was to offer to the smallest children (and their parents), a remarkably soft toy, with short pile and embroidered eyes, to ensure both safety and hygiene; an innovation was born. Noukie’s would quickly develop a real expertise in the creation of characters and soft toys, and understand its essential role in the emotional development of babies. Our soft toys, the child’s every day companion, bring supreme softness, tenderness, and extend the feeling of comfort and safety given by the parents.
From 1998 onwards, our characters start creating genuine environments and also appear on linens, and later on, on day- and night wear, while always keeping the combination of softness and safety.
In 2004, Noukie’s opens its first store in Brussels, and its second one in Paris
To celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary, we decide to bring our characters in motion. And so the animated 3D TV series “Nouky, Paco, and Lola” was born. Conceived with psychologists for children, this gentle and tender TV series experienced great success, and is still broadcasted in more than 163 countries…
In 2007, Noukie’s and its whole team are awarded the prestigious trophy of “Company of the Year” by Ernst & Young
In 2010, Noukie’s completes its baby environment by creating bedroom furniture.
Our story goes on with that of our characters, and we are proud of Noukie’s presence in more than 32 countries, where it brings tenderness and happiness to both children and adults

Xandres has enabled women to shine in elegant simplicity for more than 50 years. Effortlessly chic but refined, timeless but refreshing, designed with sophisticated details and an iconic quality: Belgian, sustainable fashion to cherish.
Fashion is a form of self-expression, an extension of our emotions. Every design that carries our label is made to convey a sense of self, perfect for everyday activities and important occasions.
We are a brand with a strong belief in sustainable pieces that eventually become wardrobe favourites. Elegant fashion we love to live in, tailored to ambitious, inspiring women of character.
Xandres celebrates femininity. Diversity is our beauty ideal, which is why our collections range from size 34 to 56, so every woman can count on the perfect fit, fabric and design.
Make every moment your own.
FITTING & CRAFTSWOMANSHIP
To us, femininity extends beyond clothing, beyond collections. It’s about identity, it doesn’t fit into a box. Diversity makes us stronger, and that is reflected through an authentic story in which every body, every size, every mindset is beautiful. A story in which we rebel against beauty ideals and support every woman’s self-confidence and personality.
That’s why you’ll find our clothing in every size, from 34 to 56, every item designed with the same attention to detail. By making small adjustments here and there in the designs, we can guarantee the perfect fit for every figure and let it come into its own beautifully. This tailored approach ensures that no one is limited by a lack of choice, that no one has to feel excluded. Because we are all Xandres.
Xandres is investing in a better future, where quality and sustainability go hand in hand. We are developing a plan to make our entire production process as sustainable as possible, from yarn and fabrics to the garment in your wardrobe, and long after.
The Xandres Lab was founded to innovate and experiment. On the one hand, we draw up strategies for recycling our clothing and look for the right partners to complete the cycle. We gave new life to unsold items and materials from previous seasons in limited-edition capsule collections.
On the other hand, the Xandres Lab runs recurring projects in which we join forces with sustainable designers or brands. We give pioneers a platform and learn from them. This is how we move forward together, it’s a win-win situation.
50 years of know-how, experience and passion translate into our timeless, strong designs. A story that started with ’the perfect trousers’ and boutique clothing under the Andres name, when a new generation breathed life into the family business in 1968. Andres bridged the revolutionary gap between commercial brands and haute couture, thereby supporting women’s self-confidence and personality.
Luxurious but accessible clothing, complementing fashion trends with timeless beauty, imbued with authenticity and quality. That essence has remained unchanged.
In the nineties, Andres was transformed into Xandres, the iconic brand we are today. A long tradition inspired by femininity followed, and the first Xandres stores opened their doors in Belgium and the Netherlands. Xandres has since grown into an internationally respected fashion house and is still evolving. Proud of our roots!

From producer of caps to fashion brand: the history of Zilton
“Our passion for fashion has been around for over a century”, says Paul Declercq, CEO of Belgian fashion brand Zilton.
This is a major exception in the world of fashion which is governed chiefly by short-term trends.
Paul Declercq: “My great-grandparents started making caps in 1898 and following the death of my great-grandfather in 1917, production was taken over by his wife and two sons. Demand rose so much that in 1926 they decided to open a factory in Ardooie. In 1930, ‘City Sport’ designs were launched and my father Daniel and his cousin Godfried, the third generation, managed the factory.
During the war, production was at a low level but after the war there was an enormous boom.
The sixties were more difficult because the hippies weren’t really into caps; they preferred ribbons in their hair. (laughs)
On the pretext of: “Not everyone wears a cap, but does wear trousers”, my father started producing trousers in 1973 as well as caps. The highest quality, a perfect fit and reliability came first and foremost. A number of years later my brother and I took over the business and in 1995 we launched ourselves under the name ‘Zilton’. From then on, things moved quickly and we soon had a full clothing collection, trousers combined with blazers, coats, knitwear, shirts, scarves, belts.“
Zilton Over onsThe family business’ many years of experience in terms of materials, wear comfort, patterns and cuts, combined with the young and dynamic input of our current team have made Zilton a unique and strong Belgian brand. A solid and successful shop-in-shop concept has been developed to propose Zilton’s craftmanship in full to our fashionable customer.”
All of this has not escaped the eye of our neighbours in France and Holland. You’ll find the collection in many quality standard multibrand shops.
Following the new trend, men dress up more, so you can expect even more creativity from us. Don’t hesitate to visit our newest website – http://www.zilton.com – to keep up with our latest offers and fashion trends!
