Sigi » Fashion in Belgium

Sigi grew up in Antwerp, in a highly creative environment where knitwear played a vital role. His mother, Hilde Frunt, has been involved in the fashion business for more than 40 years. Being considered a true expert in knitwear, various famous Belgian designers asked her collaboration. Therefore, creations by Raf Simons, Dries Van Noten, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck and many others were always present in the world Sigi grew up in. At an early age, Sigi realized his deep passion for the fashion industry and particularly for artistic knitwear.

Hilde Frunt taught her son many practical and creative skills. In addition, Sigi decided to take a technical knitting course and later started working as a visual merchandiser for renowned companies and shops. Enriched by these experiences, Sigi’s ideas and creative influences evolved steadily. In order to bring to life his own creations, he spent many sleepless nights in front of his knitting machine.
In 2001, at the early age of 20, he was ready to present his very first collection. The public enthusiasm was just another boost for Sigi to continue the development of his exclusive and very personal style.

The designer Sigi has very specific ideas about fashion and the way of putting his ideas into reality. He wants people who wear his brand to feel unique and comfortable. The combination of different fabrics and techniques makes his collections stand out. The mixture of delicate and raw textures give SIGI creations a sophisticated touch and reflect the way the designer interprets his ‘no nonsense’ approach to life. The collections’ silhouettes are often inspired by the Middle Ages, music, cinema and science fiction.
