B & T Textilia
B & T TextiliaAbout us
B&T Textilia specialises in exclusive high-end jacquard and plain fabrics. We ensure the uncompromising quality of our products by selecting only the best yarns, primarily from Belgium, France, Italy and Peru.
We thrive and search for the natural and elegant fibres, mainly wool, cotton, linen, silk and cashmere. We understand that look, feel and finish play an import roll in fabrics and therefore spend unlimited time and budget to reach the best.
Together with our customers we develop products which comply 100% to the requirements of the customers
Our story
B&T Textilia is specialised in jacquard fabrics and plain weaves.
All our high-end fabrics are made in Belgium and crafted from the best weaving yarns produced primarily in Belgium, France, Italy and Peru. By consciously choosing natural fibres − such as alpaca, mohair, wool, cotton, Belgian linen, silk and cashmere − we stay true to the essence of our heritage.
B&T Textilia is artisanal with the emphasis on artistry and skill. Idealist – the company uses fine natural fibres and materials almost exclusively – its roots and product- focused sensibillity are essentially European.
Creativity
B&T Textilia’s creativity is a result of wide-ranging influences, including our proud heritage.
Our 5 multicultural in-house designers are all passionate about intricate jacquard fabrics and textiles, and work with highly regarded freelance artists and licensing houses from all over the world.
A variety of design studios, trend books, art and colour books, frequent travels, old documents and archive fabrics provide further inspiration. B&T Textilia is also a member of several trend-watching associations such as Trendvision. All designs, books and historical fabrics are archived on a purpose-built software system.
Blending these different approaches, ideas and viewpoints produces high-end fabrics in an innovative stylistic fusion that ranges from ethnic to traditional to contemporary. Use of hi-tech textiles and the latest Computer Aided Design software – linked via a network to the weaving department – add flexibility and speed.
The result: custom-made products and developments, and one-of-a-kind and limited production items, all made in Belgium of the finest craftsmanship.
Quality
Because we control each step of the process with great care, we are absolutely confident in the quality of our jacquard fabrics and plain weaves. In the final step, to ensure the quality we promise, we test our fabrics in house on martindale and pilling.
All our jacquard fabrics and plain weaves are made in Belgium and crafted from the best weaving yarns, which are produced primarily in Belgium, France, Italy and Peru. We consciously choose natural fibres because of their ecological and luxurious character.
We work exclusively with the finest European dyeing houses, and we never make concessions on quality. The rich feel and craftsmanship of our high-end fabrics are our principal hallmarks.
Our history
The history of B&T Textilia is interwoven with the history of 5 generations of artisans – dating back to 1854 when the company’s founder was a maker of woollen suits and apparel fabrics.
Located between the historical towns of Ghent and Bruges, our company expanded its operations by absorbing other weaving companies in the area. Today building on 800 years of authentic Flemish craftsmanship, B&T Textilia represents an unknown passion for textiles.
For centuries, Flanders has been famous for its tapestry and weaving industry. The B&T Textilia weaving mill has been located in the village of Waarschoot, between Ghent and Bruges, for over 100 years. During this time, we have expanded our operations through several carefully-chosen acquisitions.
By combining over a century of experience, Flemish craftsmanship and a passion for innovation and high-end fabrics, B&T Textilia has become a preferred partner for the creative minds in the high fashion and interior design industries.
A golden age
Our story officially began in 1912, when Société Anonyme de Waarschoot founded Société Anonyme Textilia. But our history dates back to 1854, when our founder was a small-scale maker of woollen suits and fashion fabrics. Specialised in velour, the company became independent in 1925. The weaving industry was booming at that time, and more than 300 people kept over 300 machines up and running.
The humble ’70s
During the 1970s, the vibrant sound of the mill died down. The company merged with Société Anonyme de Waarschoot, and of the 1000 employees only 700 remained. The new N.V. Textilia focused on home linens, upholstery fabrics, fashion fabrics, industrial applications and yarn spinning. Even though its creations travelled all over the world, the company’s heyday was over − or so it seemed…
A new wind blowing
In the early 1980s, Patrick Van Damme took over the weaving mill. A decade later, his son Thierry, who had just finished law school, joined the company. They introduced the production of unique and exclusive products and changed the course of the company to upholstery and home decoration fabrics.
Then, in the mid-1990s, a fusion with weaving mill Bruggeman from the Waasland resulted in the new name: B&T Textilia. The new organisation brought the company back into the limelight of the fashion and interior design industries.

History
From farm to world in 67 years
1953: Foundation Ter Molst
Belgian weaving mill Ter Molst, Old Flemish for ‘on the farm’, was established in 1953 in an old flax farm in Oostrozebeke.
Founder Remi Vanacker set up his first weaving loom in one of the farm’s former flax sheds and called upon his three daughters to start production. From 1953 until 1962, Ter Molst only produced drapery fabrics, just for the Belgian market.
2016: Global production
Ter Molst brought its proven business model to the USA and India in 2016, partnering with its sister company Global Textile Alliance. Ter Molst set up state-of-the-art machinery to deliver the same high-quality fabrics as in our Belgian headquarters, maximizing the benefits of GTA’s warping departments, extrusion plants, and finishing departments.
Experienced in-house American and Indian textile design teams were employed to work closely together with the Belgian branch, resulting in several fabric collections a year.
Today: Part of Love Home Fabrics
Today, Ter Molst is a fully-integrated mill that operates and sells in more than 100 countries. Since 2017, the company has been part of the global group Love Home Fabrics.
This label joins eleven interior textile brands worldwide and employs 1.500 experienced people to ensure:
Guaranteed quality for every price range
Contemporary fabrics that can be adjusted to your liking
An easy one-stop shopping experience for all your home fabrics
Systainability
At Ter Molst, we value a sustainable and circular economy. These are not just words. We Act on them. By sourcing sustainable raw materials and implementing a green production process, Ter Molst is taking the eco-friendly route.
Act for Home Textiles
As we are a part of the Act for Home Textiles program by Love Home Fabrics, we focus on producing sustainably. We provide high-quality products that are created in environmental-friendly conditions. We do this by:
- reducing our energy use,
- having a full-circle water use and water purification stations,
- banning harmful substances,
- and waste recycling.
Besides our sustainable production process, Ter Molst invests heavily in developing fabrics made from eco-friendly yarns. We are transparent about the composition of our fabrics and do this by introducing an eco-score and eco-passport for each fabric. The eco-score and corresponding passport show what percentage of the yarns is eco-friendly and which sustainable yarns are used in the fabric.
Let us introduce you to the eco-friendly yarns we use.
Raw materials
Harmolan PP
Harmolan PP is yarn that we made in-house in Belgium. It is an upcycled yarn made from residual oil components and the most durable man-made fiber available on the market. We use this yarn in all our Vivalife fabrics. During the production process, no water or chemicals are used.
Harmolan PP is the only fiber in the world that’s lighter than water, but the feel of it remains comfortable and cozy. The yarn creates a fabric that has a high wear resistance, is easy to clean and resistant to chemicals, molds and bacteria.
Linen
Linen is a strong and natural fiber made from the flax plant. The older it gets, the stronger and more beautiful it becomes. Flax is a renewable source, one that is fast growing, requires no chemicals and has a minimal impact on the planet. Across its lifecycle, a linen shirt uses 6.4 liters of water compared to 2700 liters for a cotton shirt. Our Linen Life collection features all fabrics with natural fiber blends and brings a natural and authentic feel into your home.
Wool
Wool is a natural and renewable material that is locally sourced and harmless to the environment. The woolen yarns we use are left undyed, which makes them completely biodegradable.
BCI Cotton
Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) focuses on developing and maintaining sustainable farming practices that are beneficial to the environment, the quality and durability of cotton and the communities of cotton farmers. The goal is to help the cotton industry survive and thrive by introducing them to better soil health and water management, lowering greenhouse gas emissions and improving climate resilience. It serves as a quality label to help farmers make the cotton production process and products more sustainable and thus reducing the environmental footprint of cotton farming.
GRS polyester
GRS is an international product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content. It indicates that the recycled polyester we use is made from post-consumer recycled PET bottles, produced in good working conditions, and that harmful environmental and chemical impacts are minimized.
Lenzing EcoVero
Because of the sustainable wood source of Lenzing EcoVero, this eco-responsible viscose yarn has a much lower environmental impact than generic viscose yarns. The water impact and CO2 emissions are also 50% lower compared to regular viscose.
Certifications
In addition, Ter Molst obtained several certificates in recent years.
By being Oeko-Tex certified, we guarantee fabrics that are skin-friendly and harmless to humans, animals and the environment. Moreover, our production facility was granted the highest score (level 3) on the STeP by Oeko-Tex certification.
STeP by Oeko-Tex is a highly valued and independent certification system for the textile industry and is rewarded after a thorough audit. Our high score guarantees we produce in an eco-friendly way, provide socially responsible working conditions and an optimum health and safety environment.
Our products also meet the REACH requirements of the European Community Regulation on safeguarding human health and the environment.

Every day, we strive to create a profitable business model without losing our authentic style. Our focus is always on helping customers with a personal touch. Therefore, our ultimate goal is not to be the biggest in the market, but to be the best at what we do.

Firstly, we attach great value to our customer-oriented focus. We are always looking for long-term relationships, encouraging contact between our management and our regular customers. Good communication is essential to us, even to the point that we use customer feedback when creating our collections. In doing so, we never lose sight of our own specific knowledge of course. To enhance this communication, we are currently working on a digital catalogue in which customers will be able to easily navigate through our extensive collection.
Secondly, our employees need to be treated correctly. To meet this requirement, we follow the ETI Base Code. This way, we have managed to assemble a motivated team.
Thirdly, we also focus on innovation. We always use the latest technologies in production. By investing in the newest machines, we can make our staff work as ergonomically as possible. We are also building a new showroom, new offices and a new digital catalogue to serve our customers even better.
Finally, we do not only talk about the environment, but actively contribute to it. For example, we can supply approximately 50% of our own energy by means of our solar panels. In addition, we also apply strict recycling rules.
