Our store and our team
A little history…
From 1953 to today
For more than 60 years, the world of couture has held no secrets for the Stecker family.
Services, products and the store have not stopped evolving over the years.
Discover the history of Ets Stecker.
1953 The beginnings
The house was founded in 1953 by Mr. Sauboin – Pierson.
At the time, the brave man traveled the roads and offered his services to the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. So much so that the name Sauboin remained established in the region for a long time.
1958 The mission continues
Mr. Henri Stecker – Sauboin continues the mission undertaken by his father-in-law, remaining at the service of housewives and their sewing machines.

1981
The succession is assured
At the rate of sales, the reputation of Maison Stecker grew and when in 1981, Mr. Jean-Claude Stecker and his wife Jacqueline Mary decided to extend this formidable activity, they undoubtedly benefited from the excellent work carried out by the two previous generations.
1985
Choice of stecker sewing machines
A vast choice
Already in 1985, Ets Stecker offered a wide choice of sewing and embroidery machines from the biggest brands.
1981 Training our customers
At the same time, sewing courses are organized so that our customers can use their machine in an optimal way.
Since then, at 126 bis rue de la Gare in Bertrix, you learn the techniques and mysteries of sewing, embroidery and patchwork through courses organized in the creative center. You make blouses, skirts, jackets, fashion accessories, embroidery, etc.
The digital adventure
The end of the 90s was marked by the advent of the internet and sites such as Yahoo, Amazon, Ebay, … but also http://www.stecker.be
Mr. Stecker surfed the wave of the web successfully by launching the first Ets Stecker website in 1999.
1999
From this date, the family success story will take a new flight.
The company will expand its notoriety across Europe to become one of the leaders in the world of couture. Despite the distance, the quality of services remains unchanged.

This unique training guides you
to become an excellent textile technician. You learn in the
practical lessons to know, set up and operate different types of textile machines.
In addition, you will learn different techniques to be creative
to apply your ideas to textile products.
Our design principles:
how we build our machines
When starting the design of a new machine, we have to do better than just a few picks faster than the previous generation. Today’s world is all about connectivity, user-centric design, intuitive controls, self-learning capacities and sustainability … to name just a few. These are the benchmarks for a future-proof design.
We have brought these together in 4 key principles that serve as the starting point for the design of any Picanol machine or feature:
Smart Performance
Performance is the first requirement for any machine or feature, and the obvious indicator is the theoretical maximum speed. Very often, however, the gap between this theoretical speed and the effective speed under real-life conditions is huge.
Sustainability Inside
When it comes to preventing waste and reducing energy consumption, Picanol has long faced up to its responsibility.
Driven by Data
We all know that digitization will become ever more important in the next decades. Data have to be captured and made available for artificial intelligence, making production more efficient.
Intuitive Control
Kids nowadays handle new technology effortlessly and intuitively. That’s what we want for our machines as well.
Robb.

I am Veerle, married to Jeroen and mother of 3 teenage daughters Frauke, Mare and Lobke (hence Framalo).
After a career of 15 years in education, it was time for me for something new. My daughters also needed some extra mommy love at that time, so working from home was up for me.
It all started with 10 fabrics in my living room cupboard. This quickly expanded to my desk, bedroom… and then eventually converting the garage into a real store.
But the garage shop also quickly turned out to be too small and after a while I also got tired of breaking up and dismantling the workshop tables.
Three years ago we took the decision to move to a larger building in Houthulst with sufficient retail and workshop spaces.
It’s often long and busy days for me but I don’t regret it for a second! Framalo became my fourth child, a fabric and wool shop but above all a workshop and DIY place. Every day I enjoy giving workshops and lessons. Every day I remain “Miss” but in my own way.
Teaching will always remain a part of me. Giving inspiration to others gives me enormous satisfaction and the spirit to continue. I want to inspire and make people create each in his or her own way. How a piece of fabric can turn into something beautiful, something completely finished. How a thread of wool can become a warm scarf around someone’s neck and give a warm feeling when someone compliments it. Because that is my goal: to meet and enjoy!
Of course I don’t do all this alone and I have a great team behind me!
Mister Framalo or Jeroen. In daily life school director but also my support and rock. The man who pulls me through when the going gets tough, who keeps saying that everything will always be okay, the one who always goes along with my moving whims, my financial director, help at fairs and cook at the children’s camps.
Katrien helps out in the store as a saleswoman and gives perfect advice on fabric and pattern choices. She also gives advanced sewing lessons on Wednesdays and Fridays and processes all our retouches.
