ZLQ BELIEVES THAT BEAUTY DESERVES TIME TO FLOURISH AND MATURE. RATHER THAN FOCUSSING ON SHORT-LOVED TRENDS OR SEASONAL DEMANDS, ZLQ STRIVES FOR TIMELESS PERFECTION. BY TAKING THE TIME TO FULLY EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES OF BOTH MATERIAL AND CUT, ZLQ AIMS TO REFINE ITS CONTEMPORARY CLASSICS WITH PATIENCE AND CARE. DOING SO, ZLQ EMBODIES THE VERY ESSENCE OF SLOW FASHION, A STORY IN WHICH THE TRANSIENCE OF TIME BECOMES A BLESSING.
DESIGNED TO STAND THE TEST OF TIME, EACH PIECE IS HANDCUT AND HANDCRAFTED IN LIMITED QUANTITIES. ROOTED IN TRADITION AND FASCINATED BY MODERN LIFE, ZLQ REFLECTS THE PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN QUALITY AND FUNCTIONALITY. ZLQ REPRESENTS A FUTURE WHERE BEAUTY AND SUSTAINABILITY INTERTWINE GRACEFULLY. USING ONLY THE FINEST MATERIALS, THE CAREFULLY SELECTED LEATHER IS PRAISED FOR ITS RAW ELEGANCE AND SUBTLE PATINA. INTELLIGENT AND REFINED. SOPHISTICATED YET ADVENTUROUS.
ZLQ’S DESIGNS GAIN THEIR UNIQUE IDENTITY THROUGH DAILY USE AND BECOME A BELOVED PARTNER OVER TIME.
BEHIND ZLQ STANDS A PASSIONATE DUO DETERMINED TO TRANSLATE THEIR BELIEFS INTO A GENUINELY EXCLUSIVE PRODUCT. FROM THE FIRST SKETCH TO THE FINISHING TOUCH,
LIESBETH VERHELST AND TIM BROOTHAERS TREAT EACH ASPECT OF THEIR DESIGNS WITH GREAT ATTENTION TO DETAIL.
ZLQ DESIGNS FOR THE STRONG-MINDED WITH A SOFT SPOT FOR LEATHER LUXURY. TRUE TO ITS CORE VALUES, ZLQ’S DESIGNER GOODS WILL ACCOMPANY YOU IN YEARS TO COME.

ABOUT US
NIELS PEERAER
is an eponymous leather goods label, founded by Antwerp designer Niels Peeraer, established and based in Paris ca. 2011
VISION & CHAPTER 2/
After 8 years of introducing our “no limit to cuteness” it’s time to start writing a second chapter to our storyline, and use a more translated approach to cuteness. Continuing a genderless balance of sensitivity vs. toughness, but shifting from a focus on ornamentation to a more elaborate form study and styling versatility, while keeping our practical architectural volumes.
We decided to still keep our first generation classics available in our Made to Order section, which will be handmade in our Paris atelier. All our pieces are created without any gender-tag, they are here for to any human who feels connected to them.
TECHNIQUE/
Niels Peeraer bags have no stitching, and are entirely assembled through screws and custom made gold or nickle hardware.
Through this self-developed technique we can achieve cleaner lines and strength on our pieces.
MATERIAL AND SUSTAINABILITY/
Our vegetable tanned cow hide is sourced from Scandinavia, as a byproduct from meat consumption. In respect for the animal, we use the leather in its entirety, including parts that others might regard as imperfections.
We’re strong believers in the Japanese philosophy of Wabi Sabi 「侘寂」, finding beauty in imperfections, always with deep respect and appreciation for the integrity of the natural materials and processes.
We do not use lining or cover the inside of our pieces, but use a special waxing-process to create a smooth surface, as well as use a natural gum-based finish for our edges. It’s important for us not to use any chemical or environmental toxic component within our materials, nor production process.
All our materials are sourced within Europe and our pieces are handmade in either Spain or our own atelier in Paris, to minimize our footprint.

ABOUT
MIEKE, MOM AND MODERN LADY BOSS
Meet Mieke Dierckx, a 30-something Belgian designer with a big heart for leather goods. After studying interior and furniture design, followed by a master in jewellery design, Mieke started her own brand in 2012. Her studies influence her approach on creating handbags in a less conventional way. Being a boys mom and a modern lady boss at the same time, she loves to be inspired by everyday life.
In her latest collections, the 3D aspect comes to life
through a vibrant mix of clashing colours.
SOPHISTICATED, TIMELESS PIECES
At the beginning, Mieke experimented with a laser cutting technique to create new 3D patterns. This way of working clearly defined her first collections Couleur Caché and Alter Ego. While the playful scales remain, Mieke now uses other techniques to design sophisticated, timeless pieces. Understanding architecture and design, form and function are vital. In her latest collections, the 3D aspect comes to life through a vibrant mix of clashing colours creating an atypical palette.
DEDICATED CRAFTSMANSHIP
Every object, from clutch to crossbody bag, is designed with love by Mieke in her atelier in Westerlo and produced by dedicated craftsman in our atelier in Portugal. She always opts for the best materials and crisp colour combinations. After all these years, every item still is a recognizable piece of Belgian design that embodies the power of minimalism with the right balance of modern elegancy.
She experimented with laser techniques cutting out specific patterns in textile and leather to give it a three-dimensional look. This resulted in a collection of hand bags, wallets and scarves, some in limited editions and others as unique pieces.

Terre Bleue history
The Belgian label Terre Bleue was established in 2002 and is part of the company Duror/Two Faces, a flourishing family company runned by Dirk Perquy who represents the third generation. Recently his son Peter joined the company so that the tradition is assured. The roots of Terre Bleue go back to 1938. Maurice Perqui, his wife and his brother Jozef established the Perquy-Braet company. It was a wholesale in textile products; especially caps, scarves and stockings. A strong brand demands its own boutique that reflects the total image of the collection. That’s why Terre Bleue opened its first concept store in Ghent in 2004. More boutiques would follow soon. The former kids collection CF Company, that was the inspiration for the Terre Bleue womens collection, was renamed Terre Bleue in 2008.
Since the summer of 2009 the Terre Bleue universe expanded with its own men’s collection. Since then Terre Bleue has become a real family brand. The number of boutiques is growing and the gamma is always enlarging. To establish a total look, Terre Bleue launched a women and kids shoe collection in 2010 that is intensively connected with the clothing collection. With the Spring collection of 2012, the boutique in Knokke was the first to be transformed into a new shopping concept. Shortly after that, the 12th Terre Bleue boutique opened its doors in Nieuwpoort; a family store that is designed according to the new concept. In the same year the brand also celebrated its 10th birthday! Grow continues in 2013.

A LILU BAG IS…
More than a fashion accessory, your handbag, is an extension of you. A reflection of your personality, an ally in your day to day. LILU bags are a crafted fusion between practicality and aesthetics. Beautiful, modern and timeless. They are made to last, and develop their own unique patina and character over time. Easy to use and wear, they will accompany you for years to come.
LILU’S VALUES
Craftsmanship, savoir-faire and made in Belgium are the core values of Lilu. Producing in small quantities, all of our bags are handmade by meticulous and passionate craftsmen. They are made to last. Our hope is that they’ll be passed on from generation to generation, epitomising the values of slow fashion.
Lilu continue to strive towards better environmental standards. Reducing its carbon footprint, by only producing bags in their Brussels atelier. And by working exclusively with tanneries which strictly adhere to European regulations, that relate in particular to the use of chemicals within the dyeing process and which favour the use of the most environmentally friendly materials.
HOW AND WHERE ARE LILU BAGS MADE?
Ixelles, Brussels in our atelier-boutique is where our bags are born. There, high-quality cowhide leather skins from carefully sourced European tanneries (France, Italy, Germany for the most part) are prototyped, designed and produced into bags and accessories by our artisans.
Bags are available at our boutique or through select retailers across Belgium. We also offer a “made to measure” service (in this case, allow six to eight weeks for production. You choose the model, leather, colour, even the number of pockets …
WHO’S BEHIND LILU?
Since childhood, Emmanuelle Adam, a graduate in law and management, has been guided by her passions. LILU is a dedication to craftsmanship, art and leather goods … which, in 2005, led to the creation of Lilu. “I was keen to work with the raw material, by hand; and to produce here, in Belgium, quality bags and accessories, both beautiful and practical, which would be sustainable. ” Bags conceived by her but also by you…
Smiling, intuitive, attentive, you’ll find Emmanuelle spends most of her time in her boutique-atelier, where she is always happy to advise and guide you to the bag that best suits you.

Lorenzo Lebon
Lorenzo LebonMore Info
